In June of 2016, I flew out of St. Louis with a final destination of Pune, India. It was the last day I would see sunshine for almost 3 months as my trip took me through Dublin and then into Pune during the Monsoon season.
Not knowing much about monsoon, I assumed that it would be continuous heavy rains. That is not exactly how the monsoon in Pune is. It is mostly overcast with slight drizzle and the occasional heavy rain. Much like Seattle, but warmer (temps mostly mid 80’s).
Unlike St. Louis, where the rain is a reason to stay in, many of the people in Pune look at it as the best time to be outdoors in the surrounding areas. I was told that the rainy season is the best time to trek in places such as Lonavla (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonavla) and Mahabaleshwar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahabaleshwar).
